Lying peacefully alongside Santiago Creek in east Orange, the 1269-acre this Regional Park is a nature lover’s paradise. Santiago Oaks offers equestrians, hikers, and bikers the natural charm of mountain vistas, a meandering creek, an orange grove, and a mature forest with a wide variety of trees. Wildlife abounds throughout the park, and a series of intertwined trails leads through shady groves to a lookout with a unique and inspiring view of Orange and the surrounding foothills.
This secluded park has multiple multi-use trails open to the public to share. Santiago Oaks Regional Park also provides access to the Anaheim Hills Trail System along northern Orange County. This park includes a nature center with exhibits and displays on various natural history topics, a playground with picnic tables, and restrooms. There is also a historic dam available to rent for multiple events.
Santiago Oaks Regional Park offers several miles of trail for you to choose from throughout the park. The easiest one is the Santiago Creek Trail. You can combine it with the Bobcat Meadow Trail for a short and easy loop. An easy and friendly hike is the Historic Dam Trail that leads to the Dam. Once there, you’ll find a small waterfall and stepping stones to cross the creek.
If you want a more challenging but fun trail, take the Santiago Creek Trail and connect to Sage Ridge Trail for fantastic park views. From here, you can connect to the more challenging trails in Santiago Oaks to extend your hike. Weir Canyon Trail promises excellent views but can get very hot, and no shades are available. Take the trail up Robbers Peak for a fun elevation gain and moderate difficulty rating. More routes to try:
