Planning to be in Anaheim for the holiday weekend? The local Anaheim Cemetery Memorial Day Program starts at 11 a.m., hosted by the Orange County Cemetery District. Here, veterans at three of the district’s cemeteries will be honored. You can visit Anaheim Cemetery, El Toro Memorial Park, and Santa Ana Cemetery to pay your respects. Guest speakers, wreath presentations, and an honor guard firing salute are scheduled at the Anaheim Cemetery at 1400 E. Sycamore Street.
In nearby Dana Point, the Veterans of War Memorial Day Event starts at 10 a.m. The annual event takes place at Pines Park in Capistrano Beach, located at 34941 Camino Capistrano. A special honoring of Korean War and World War II veterans is planned, and all fallen soldiers of all wars’ graves will be flanked in flowers.
Never Forgotten
Fullerton is home to The Greatest Generation and US Marines Saluted in Fullerton Memorial Day Service. It begins at 10 a.m. and is hosted by the American Veterans Memorial Association non-profit. The free event welcomes the public, especially veterans, with a special homage to World War II veterans, known as “the Greatest Generation.” It takes place at Loma Vista Memorial Park at 701 E. Bastanchury Road.
The Memorial Day Ceremony at the Huntington Beach Pier Plaza, located at Pacific Coast Highway and Main Street, is another popular event. It begins at 11 a.m. and is hosted by the Jewish War Veterans, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars. A 21-gun salute, playing of “Taps,” flag-raising, and local dignitary speeches are planned.
