Looking for some tips to keep your ghouls and goblins safe this Halloween? Check out some of our Halloween safety tips for a happy and fun time this weekend.
- Do not let young kids trick-or-treat without adult supervision.
- If your teenagers are heading out with friends, make sure you know where they are going and set a time for them to check in and return home for the evening.
- It is hard for drivers to see pedestrians after dark so always use designated cross walks.
- Carry a flashlight to ensure drivers can see you and you can see what is in front of you.
- Avoid areas that are dimly lit or have no lighting such as alleyways.
- Always carry a cell phone for emergencies.
- Remind kids to never enter a home or a car for a treat, no matter how tempting.
- For small kids, have a contact name and number on them should they get lost or separated. You can pin it to their costume or even write it on their arm.
- Always inspect candy before allowing kids to eat any. Candy that has been unwrapped, spoiled or is questionable should be tossed in the trash.
- Don’t eat too much candy at once! It can cause serious belly aches. Too much candy? Try donating it to a local charity.
